Bio

Iripa grew up in rural Whakatane and Rotorua and attended Rotorua Boys High School. He actively participated in many different sporting codes and through this involvement gained a passion for sport and the sporting industry.

 

He studied for a Sport and Recreation Degree which he completed in 2011 followed by a Post Graduate Diploma in 2016.

 

Over the past five years and while working full time in education, he has also gained experience working with High Performance Sport, as a strength and conditioning coach for Auckland Rugby and currently for the Warriors. Sport is Iripa’s passion and he enjoys sharing that with people.

Where are you from?

Matahi, Whakatane.

 

What are the things you like most about your home country?

The people, the diversity and the pride we have in our small nation!!!

 

What are your three most favourite books?

The only books that I have read are the Harry Potter series, and the Da Vinci Code. Suffice to say, I enjoyed the Harry Potter books.

 

What sports teams do you support?

The WARRIORS!!!

 

The All Blacks

 

Oklahoma City Thunder, USA and any NZ sport team that is playing Australia!!!

 

How do you spend your free time?

I enjoy spending time with friends and family, trying different restaurants and cuisines, training in the gym, and playing sport.

 

What is your favourite music?

R&B and Reggae. Love the laid back nature of this type of music.

 

What famous person do you most admire and why?

Taika Waititi - he is a Maori from New Zealand who is making it big internationally. He sets an example, that demonstrates it doesn’t matter what your background is or how small your country is, you can do what you want if you just believe in yourself.

 

How would your friends describe you?

Kind and caring. Always looking after them before myself.
