Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city and was ranked the world’s most liveable city by Mercer’s 2017 Quality of Living Survey. The city boasts a unique culture and is fondly referred to as the City of Sails, because of numerous yachts, pleasure craft and marinas dotting its coastlines.

In addition, the population is made up of many cultures that add a vibrancy to the city’s lifestyle through their cuisine, music and art. It is also famous as an events hub, making it suitable for international students to enjoy the food, cultural festivities, concerts, sports, plays, and numerous craft markets. At the same time Auckland is a cosmopolitan city with a warm, temperate climate that international students will enjoy.

WEATHER AND CLIMATE

Auckland weather is variable. It is mainly pleasant in summer, however, it can get very cool in winter with unpredictable rain. It is advisable to carry warm clothes and closed footwear.

 

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Public transport is highly preferred due to low transport costs. In most cases travel costs fall between $40 and $200 per week, and therefore, students are encouraged to seek accommodation near the Institute to reduce travel expenses. Students are also advised to consult the Auckland Transport agency website for price changes.
